About Isis Monteverde

Isis Monteverde has practiced as a life coach for the past 20 years, helping her clients to progress towards their goals and live a more fulfilled life. As well as assisting clients to clarify their goals, life coaches like Isis work with their clients to identify the obstacles holding them back and develop strategies to overcome them. Typically, life coaching focuses on personal growth and career development, as well as achieving goals, shifting perspectives and behaviour changes. It can help clients to improve their physical health, financial wellness and emotional wellbeing.

Career

Before taking up a life coaching career, Isis was a yoga teacher. She completed her yoga teacher training while travelling in Bali, a location she loved so much that she decided to settle there. Isis still lives in Bali and continues to regularly practice yoga. There are many benefits to yoga: as well as improving flexibility and improving balance, it helps with stress relief, improves mental health, and may reduce inflammation and anxiety. Practicing yoga has also been linked to enhancing the immune system, improving sleep and improving cardiovascular functioning.

Bali

The way of life in Bali is one that really appeals to Isis and was key to her decision to make the island her home. Central to this is the concept of harmony, as espoused by the Balinese philosophy of Tri Hita Karana, which influences the lives of all those that live on the island. The three pillars of the philosophy are Pawongan (harmony amongst people), Palemahan (harmony with the environment) and Parahyangan (harmony with God).

Work, Travel and Philosophy

Isis loves exploring new countries and travelled extensively in her twenties. She has spent time in Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia and Singapore. She loves cooking dishes inspired by her many travels. Isis is a vegetarian, and good nutrition is an essential part of her lifestyle. In general, a nutritious diet is one that incorporates plenty of fruit, vegetables and fibre-rich foods (especially wholegrains) and a range of protein sources. Some dairy products (or fortified alternatives) should also be included, and unsaturated fats and oils should be opted for rather than their saturated counterparts. The consumption of foods and drinks containing high levels of fat, salt and sugar should be minimised.

As well as yoga, Isis enjoys body strength training, meditating and practicing mindfulness, tai chi and Pilates. The latter involves simple, repetitive exercises that increase endurance, flexibility, muscle strength and postural stability. Benefits of practicing Pilates includes a reduction in pain, improvement in balance, weight loss and a general enhancement to quality of life.
